Firstly, in order to build a mining rig there are a number of things to think about and parts to purchase. I have split some of these out below from my latest builds. A lot of these can be swapped out for an alternative option which I will build on later.
Please let us know of any feedback or additions you would like to see to the list. But this is just a starting point.
We make our recommendation focusing on efficiency and ease of use, ideal for beginners but do your own research as always.
Please use the table of contents links – this will scroll you directly to the parts that may be of interest.

- MSI X470 GAMING PLUS MAX Motherboard ATX, AM4, DDR4, LAN, USB 3.2 Gen2
If you would like to do some GPU mining as well look for a higher spec chip.
- AMD Athlon 3000G 2-Core, 4-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Radeon Graphics – Check out the choice page a great choice from multiple vendors.
The below choices are made with CPU mining in mind.
|AMD Ryzen 9 3950X Processor|
(16C/32T, 72 MB Cache, 4.7 GHz Max Boost)
|32 threads, so a great CPU easily ready for overclocking|
and undervolting. Price may be high new so you may want to check out eBay a quicker ROI.
|AMD RYZEN9 3900x Socket AM4 processor (24T)||Only 24 threads compared to the 3950x, but on the up side its normally half the price so good value for money.||View Amazon|
|AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X (48 Threads)||If you need top performance as well as lots of threads a Threadripper may be a viable option for the ultimate rig, although this will take longer to ROI.||View Amazon|

|1. Ubit PCIE Riser 1x to 16x Graphic Extension for Bitcoin GPU Mining Powered Riser Adapter Card||Full Riser Review||View Here|
Please check out our recommendation – I have picked this due to price and design – I replaced the Beymei product with this due to the positioning of the 6 pin and the gold connectors on this just show a little more quality.
I would recommend for you to at least check out a server PSU – they are designed for long term use and are cheaper than ATX Power Supplies – with a ZFX board and Pico switch these can perform as a stand alone PSU – just remember to check your voltage as 120v will have a lower capacity on some units.
Checkout Parallel Mining for these parts as well – they have some great bundle deals.

Don’t go for a cheap unbranded ATX PSU, you may regret it down the line.
|ATX PSU||Quick Review||Product Link|
|Corsair 1000 W 80 Plus Gold Certified Modular 135 mm Thermally Controlled Fan Power Supply Unit||The gold efficiency is a must – never had any reliability issues with corsair and they are super quiet when not under load.||View Here|
|EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 80+ PLATINUM, 1000W ECO Mode Fully Modular||This has taken the number 2 slot – its a platinum power supply so more efficient than the Corsair PSU. But it tends to be more expensive. If you can pick this up at a cheaper price than a corsair Gold PSU then this is number one for me.||View Here|
For me when choosing a case its not really one model – it all depends on the amount of GPUs and you should choose accordingly.
Check out a selection and think what will fits the needs of the RIG you are building.
